Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder in which the body develops increased sensitivity to pain and tender points develop all over the body which are delicate to applied pressure. The participants underwent clinical examinations and questionnaires for the purpose of gathering data.

The results of the research concluded that women who reported no issues in their sleeping patterns had much lesser chances of developing Fibromyalgia as compared to those who stated abnormalities related to their sleep. Although further research is required to validate the accuracy of this research, the study on its own is quite accurate to display that sleep is a vital element to stave off Fibromyalgia.

Treating Fibromyalgia with Sleep Inducing Drugs

In a study conducted to observe sleep patterns exhibited by Fibromyalgia patients, researchers isolated abnormalities as compared to healthy patients. Researchers then introduced Sodium Oxybate into biological systems of Fibromyalgia patients to normalize their sleep waves and observed its effects. After introduction of Sodium Oxybate, the patients sleep waves changed to those of a healthy individual, opening future prospects of treating Fibromyalgia.

Patients suffering from Fibromyalgia are riddled with pain and insomnia, but just normalizing the sleep patterns killed both birds with one stone. The study concluded that focusing on affecting specific parts of the thalamus, the patients could be offered much needed relief and could drastically improve their quality of life.
